for the 9th Annual Run in the Park 5k
on Sunday May 7, 2017


Join Main Street Highland Park for a day of fun starting with the 9th annual Run in the Park 5k. The course, closed to traffic during the race, starts by the High School on North 5th Ave and then heads downhill along route 27 towards New Brunswick for a fast first mile. The race then winds it’s way through the historic streets of Highland Park before finishing on the high school track.

The event welcomes all participants including strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers.

The Course

A new course was certified for 2015. The new course allows us to start and finish in the same area – registration will be in the area by the High School track, where the race has always finished – the new course is only slightly different from the old course.

The 2017 race will be a 500 point Grand Prix race.

After the run

Following the 5k, refreshments will be available in the finish area. At 10am there will be kids races on the high school track. Kids race entrants will also receive a t-shirt and refreshments.

Following the kids races, awards will be presented to:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall Male and Female
  • Age Groups 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Male and Female (0 – 9, 10 – 14, 15 – 19, 20 -24, 25 – 29, 30 – 34, 35 – 39, 40 – 44, 45 – 49, 50 -54, 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, 70 – 74, 75 – 79, 80+)

Race Proceeds to benefit the Borough of Highland Park Police, Fire, First Aid, Library, Main Street, and Recreation.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for the Highland Park Food Pantry on the race day.

Don’t forget to visit the Street Fair along Raritan Avenue from 11am.
